Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. She was born in Winnipeg and born in Wellington Paquin was able to make her acting debut portraying Flora McGrath in the romantic drama film The Piano for which she was awarded an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 11, making her the second-youngest winner in Oscar history. She won the role of Flora McGrath the daughter of a mute Scottish pianist who, in the mid-19th century moves to New Zealand for an arranged wedding after she accepted an audition for open casting at the age of nine. She was old and had almost no previous experience as an actor. As a teenager, she made the move to America. Paquin was in a brief role as the title character when she was still a kid as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and a lead part in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 film adaptation for television of the novel by Carson McCullers The Member of the Wedding and also played a part as Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She portrayed teens as teens in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) as well as Almost Famous (2000). She also portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
